First week in Cusco!

I´m having lots of fun in Peru and getting acclimated to Cusco. Today I had classes as usual then went on a tour of the city and saw some ancient Incan sights outside of Cusco. I´m a little frustrated with the profesera at my school...she´s good and means well but doesn´t speak English. So learning is going well, but I have to stop and constantly look up words in the translation dictionary which takes a lot of extra time. I also have to turn around and explain the English translation to the teacher. She´s probably learning as much as I am.

The Incan sights that I saw today were awesome. In one sight I walked into a cave area where the Incan High Priest performed sacrifices on Incan children between the ages of 4 and 14. Some of the sites were at an elevation of 12,000ft and were surrounded by spectacular views of the Andes.

Today, April 18th, 2006, marks the 100 year anniversary of the infamous 1906 San Franisco Earthquake. Marcus and I went to Lotta's Fountain on Kearny, Market, and Geary Streets to commemorate the anniversary of the quake. I couldn't help but to think of the sheer pandemonium that surounded the city 100 years ago.

I leave for Cusco, Peru in 3 days. These will be my last days in the city for an indefinite amount of time. After what seems like endless days of rain, it's nice to see a day of sunshine in San Francisco before I leave!

Easter 2006...San Francisco

Kirstin and I attended the Sunday Easter service at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Pacific Heights. This is my last Sunday in SF before I depart for Cusco, Peru. This picture was taken on top of a roof in Cow Hollow near my old apt 2351 Filbert St.
